The law requires all motorists to be insured under what is often referred to as “civil liability” (RC). This insurance covers the liability of the drivers.

In case of accident where you are responsible for it, it covers material and physical damage caused to victims but does not cover your own injuries or material damage caused to your vehicle.





The Hamon law, relating to car, home and motorcycle insurance, came into effect on January 2015. It allows all insured persons to terminate their insurance contract after one year of subscription. Here are some steps to follow and special cases of car insurance termination:

Find a new insurer.


Take out a contract with a new insurer.


Old contract is breaking off and the new one begins.


In case of a house move.


In case of car sale


In case of destruction or a car crash
